Environmentally Friendly Photography from IMAGE Portrait Studio
IMAGE Portrait Studio was one of the first professional
photography studios in Australia to consciously embrace systems
designed to reduce impact on our fragile environment.
By introducing high quality, digital camera systems and using large
capacity compact flash cards (also called digital film), we have
completely done away with the need for plastic based films and
poisonous film developing chemicals.
A single, compact flash card is equivalent to many 100’s of
rolls of film. This re-usability combined with no longer needing
highly toxic chemicals reduces the impact our studio has on the
environment.
Taking the idea of a “Smaller Environmental Footprint” to the next level, we decided to produce all of our portrait images in house. By utilising very high resolution digital printers we do away with an entire range of harmful developing chemicals.
In addition to no longer requiring these toxic chemicals, our images are archival. This means that your portrait prints can last more than 150 years longer *(1) than the traditional, chemically impregnated photo’s we have grown accustomed to.
The vast majority of photographers still use photo labs, below is a list of some of the many chemicals used by these labs to print photo’s using traditional photographic printing methods.
IMAGE Studio does not use any of these chemicals *(2) in producing our portrait images.
